Orange Leap Introduces Orange Leap Donor Widgets and Launch of Beta Program

November 11, 2010

DALLAS, TEXAS (November 11, 2010) – Orange Leap announced today the successful demonstration of Orange Leap Donor Widgets to customers and partners last Thursday at OrangeCon, Orange Leap’s annual conference for users and developers.  As part of the demonstration, Orange Leap announced the formation of a Beta Test program that will run into early 2011.

Orange Leap provides a highly innovative and easy to use software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that strengthens relationships between an organization and its constituents and donors. Used by organizations around the world, Orange Leap On Demand is a powerful, full featured, constituent relationship management solution designed specifically for nonprofits.

Orange Leap Donor Widgets provide organizations with the ability to literally “cut-and-paste” snippets of code into their existing websites that extend the power of Orange Leap On Demand directly to donors and constituents.  Orange Leap Donor Widget capabilities initially include:

  • Website Registration – the ability for a constituent to register to enter a private area of an organization’s website.
  • Donate Now – the ability for a new or existing donor to make a one-time or recurring donation through a simple and secure form.
  • Sponsorship – the ability for a new or existing constituent to enter into a sponsorship relationship.
  • Donor Profile – the ability for an existing donor to look up their contact information and donation history and update their contact information.

Coming in the next release:

  • Event Registration – the ability for a new or existing constituent to register to participate in an organization’s event.

“Organizations have been struggling with the flow of data between their offline database and their online database as long as the Internet has been around.” Said Randy McCabe, CEO of Orange Leap.  “Syncing and ETL (extract, transform, and load) processes work fine for some organizations.  But those usually operate one-way, they’re not real time, and there is a high probability for errors.”

He continued, “Extending the power of Orange Leap On Demand to the web, giving donors and constituents a direct connection to real data in real time, is the ultimate solution.  Orange Leap Donor Widgets not only complete the communications loop between an organization and its constituents, but also ensures appropriate treatment of all constituents through the consistent application of business rules regardless of how their data enters Orange Leap On Demand.”

We thought you’d want to be kept up to date with some of the latest news and events in the Orange Leap Community.  Here’s what’s hot at Orange Leap as we melt in the heat of the summer of 2010.

Giant Leap Forward in Integration and Automation – MPX Refactoring!

MPX has been undergoing quite an overhaul with two main purposes; the first is to give MPX developers, customers, partners, and other third party developers an easier code base to add on to, integrate with, and develop around.  The second (and perhaps more important to MPX customers who don’t have as many IT resources) is to make it easy for our internal team to release all the cutting edge technology we’ve built for Orange Leap On Demand to MPX as well.  While MPX will always be our On Premise product, this refactoring enables MPX to take advantage of powerful new technologies that didn’t exist when MPX was originally released just several years ago.  Technologies like Business Rules, Active Messaging, and the Online Tools talked about in this newsletter. Easier to Navigate, More Rapid Deployment of Features, and a New Events Module – Orange Leap On Demand Version 11

Orange Leap On Demand hasn’t been sitting still either.  Version 11 is our most ambitious release since Orange Leap On Demand was born.

  • If you thought our user interface was easy to navigate, just wait until you see V11 – we’re simplifying Orange Leap On Demand to put the right things at your fingertips where they make sense and do you the most good.
  • We’ve found the secret to screaming fast deployment of new features and modules – creating custom modules through a collection of custom tables, reporting views, and business rules.  This means we can create new features, screens, and even modules by our product analysts through administration screens instead of just developers through engineering efforts.  What once took “man-months” now takes hours.
  • In fact, our new Events Module was created using this new functionality – in three weeks.  Let us know what you want to see in Orange Leap On Demand next.

Every organization struggles with the problem of keeping your offline and online data in sync.  Whether you maintain a real time integration between the two or batch upload from one to the other, let’s face it, it’s the biggest problem facing the multi-channel marketing, communication, and fundraising world we now live in. Orange Leap has turned that problem on it’s head by creating a suite of Online Tools that literally “extend” your Orange Leap On Demand or MPX database online.  Tools that are easy to deploy and give your website the ability to serve your constituents better by taking donations, giving donors view and print access to their giving history and the ability to update their contact information, and even letting them register for events online and directly into Orange Leap On Demand or MPX. Orange Leap Ahead!

February 26, 2009

MPower is rebranding as Orange Leap!

Orange Leap

We’re making this change to more accurately reflect our mission of delivering innovation and efficiency through bold technology to the nonprofit community (and frankly, we think it helps avoid brand confusion around the growing number of companies with mpower in the world and our good friends at NPower in the nonprofit community).

From our beginning, we’ve been dedicated to providing nonprofits worldwide with groundbreaking technology solutions for accelerating constituent management and fundraising.  A good example of this was taking our product open source last year to give organizations full flexibility with and control over technology while also driving down total cost of ownership.

You can learn more about the rebranding by reading our news release and Frequently Asked Questions, and also by visiting other areas of the new website at www.orangeleap.com.  Additionally, keep track of what we’re up to by joining the Orange Leap groups on Facebook and LinkedIn, and follow us on Twitter, too.

In March, we’ll be releasing two new products with support plans that are bringing innovation to a new level in the nonprofit community. And you can count on more innovation in 2009 and beyond. It’s what we do – bold and innovative technology at a simple and honest price.  So we want our name, logo and tagline to be as fresh, energetic and memorable as our software, support and services.

We’d love to show you the new products we’re launching in March.  You can schedule a demo by emailing us at riseandshine@orangeleap.com or by calling us at 1 (800) 562-5150.

We look forward to your thoughts and feedback!

Meeting Each Others’ Needs: The Power of the Open Community

August 7, 2008

Today ‘s announcement of Orange Leap’s first user-developed product innovations marks another milestone not only for our company, but more importantly for the nonprofit community. We’re now delivering on the promise of open source CRM for charitable groups in a very tangible way.

The innovations we’re announcing and planning to incorporate into our product include: a comprehensive event management system that integrates with Orange Leap; an application that provides mobile access to donor profiles in Orange Leap; and integration with Enterprise Suite, one of the best solutions for shopping cart and eCommerce functionality (you can read about all of this in greater detail in our Aug. 7 news release).

There’s now a new paradigm for nonprofits based on collaboration, sharing and the best lessons each organization has learned. But it goes one step further because, for the first time ever, organizations are giving their innovations openly to the nonprofit community. Not simply the “how to,” but the actual software applications and integrations that have helped them cut costs, improve efficiency and raise more money. This is the beginning of the most powerful long-term pay-off of the open source CRM model for the nonprofit community.

Because Orange Leap is open source, organizations are free to develop the features and functionality they need without waiting on their vendors’ slow-moving product roadmaps or paying those vendors large customization fees. These innovative groups also submit their product innovations to the entire community of Orange Leap users. We at Orange Leap follow strong product governance guidelines and submit all contributed innovations to a rigorous quality assurance process. We then document the new features and functionality and provide full ongoing support for them as part of the Orange Leap product and code base.

Now you get total freedom to develop your own innovations and/or use and benefit from community innovations that meet your needs, all with full Orange Leap support and at zero additional cost. Orange Leap users get the power of top developers who daily are adding new features and functionality to address real-world problems unique to nonprofits. The result: product quality and velocity unmatched in the history of charitable organizations.

Now that is what I call a “win-win” situation that will allow all of us to be more efficient and effective in making the world a better place for everyone.
